Missy + Eli // Corolla Outer Banks Destination Wedding

I can’t even tell you how excited I am to share this wedding with you today!! Not only because I just love the way it looks, but because I have something to share in general! Over the past month, I’ve been getting back into the swing of shooting families, couples, babies and some of the sweetest wedding ceremonies. I’m kicking off sharing all of this with Missy and Eli’s May wedding in Corolla, NC.

Missy and Eli originally sought to be married a couple of years ago, but their plan was derailed when they learned they were expecting their daughter, Stella. SO when Covid-19 threatened to derail their plans again, they held on for dear life. The county that the Outer Banks are in opened up to visitors just days before their wedding was set to take place, so we went forward with full steam. Then, the week of their wedding, they experienced terrible weather all week long. The aftermath of a hurricane brought wind and rain up until Friday, when the weather became absolutely perfect for their wedding day.

Missy and her sister Stephanie are amazing floral designers and I eagerly anticipated gorgeous work for Missy’s own wedding day, but I was so blown away by every detail they planned for their intimate celebration. The bridesmaid dresses were perfectly mismatched, the table decor so elegant and gorgeous, the florals were to the nines, and of course Missy’s whole bridal look was everything. But the best part about the whole day was that it didn’t just look beautiful - it felt beautiful. The vibe was very relaxed and natural feeling, without much of the anxiety that is often felt on a wedding day. The bridesmaids were so helpful, setting the tables and making sure everything looked perfect - it was truly a group effort!

I’m not going to say much else about the day, because I really think the photos speak for themselves. But I do want to add that during these uncertain times, which seem like they’ll remain uncertain as far as weddings go for at least this year, I can’t stress enough how important it is to think about the type of day you want to have. Who the most important players are, and what you want it to look like! Just because it small, intimate, downsized, or whatever doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style and details! If anything, your smaller guest list will appreciate your details even more than a huge group would.

A huge thank you to Missy, Eli and their families for making me feel not just like my work was valued but also like I was really part of the group all weekend long. It was SUCH a blast, and such a good way to start my 2020 wedding season.
